Retro Bandai game

I've digitally recreated a cool little handheld LCD game from the eighties' heydays.

Named Shark Island or SOS in some countries, this is a beautiful example of retro 80's electronic gaming tech from Bandai.

Bandai game composite

Integrating a photoreal CG asset. This is a live action shot with a high quality, match moved, 3D render composited in. For accurate lighting, a seven stop HDRI was captured.

The game's demo sequence was created by constructing the sprites as vectors, then sequencing an animation precisely like the original.

Elementum: Tree Giant

I’m currently working away on a broad scope CGI project putting into practice years of 3D and compositing skills development. I’m tackling the whole spectrum from the ground up to deliver a fully CGI narrative sequence.

This guy is the first character, representing Earth.

Sculpting and texturing study

Inspiration taken from naturally occurring tolypocladium, a genus of fungi which includes species that are parasites of other fungi, insect pathogens, rotifer pathogens and soil inhabiting species with uncertain ecological roles.

Space Capsule

I've put this composition together for a client's indy film.

The brief was to depict a lone capsule which has arrived at the red dwarf Proxima Centauri, in the Alpha Centauri triple star system. Twins stars; Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman are lower right.

Capsule modelled in Blender. Compositing work carried out in Blackmagic Fusion Studio.

Demonstrating complicated clean-up work on a 10 sec. shot. People removed; environment replaced; screen replaced; added book page.

The composite required; in-depth paint work to reconstruct the corner of the room; several rotoscope tasks; colour and depth corrections.Tap hold and drag left / right to compare.

Elementum design system

Inspired by ancient symbolism, the main symbol represents the classical elements; Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. There are four symbolic mystical ‘entities’ contained within the symbol, each depict a character / creature.
Viewed individually, each sub-symbol reveals two abstract visual cues; a semantic symbol, and the character’s form. Example, Earth: symbol = flora, character = Tree Giant.

Vector design in Illustrator, manually distressed. Textures + final comping in Photoshop. Motion design in After Effects.

Liquid Paint Man

This shot is part of a commission for an independent short film.

Liquid simulations are tricky. This was even more so as the brief required the man to appear to be made of paint. Limitations surrounding UV maps required workarounds.
